The last event of our Snowdrop Season is a must for all you established and budding galanthophiles who want to know more about these beautiful, heartwarming little gems and how to increase your stock, especially of the rarer and more expensive varieties, without breaking the bank.
We have assembled a team of experts on the various aspects of snowdrops, and to round off the day a visit to David and Anke Way’s nearby garden, which boasts a fine display of naturalised snowdrops.
The proposed programme for the day is as follows:
10.20am Assemble, coffee/tea and biscuits
10.40am Brief introduction
10.45am Sue Clayton: Short historical background
11.00am Don Palmer: Basic snowdrop botany
11.20am Carolyn or Julie Millen: Propagation by twinscaling
11.40am Anke Way: Propagation by seed
11.50am David Way: Propagation by offsets, and bulking up in the garden
12 noon Form groups, with each speaker acting as a discussion leader on the subject of their talk. Participants move from group to group. Hands-on activity where relevant.
12.45pm Lunch
1.15pm Visit to Southover garden (Hunton) by car.
3.00pm Formal end of workshop: Return to cars for optional visit to contrasting sites with naturalised Galanthus nivalis.
The cost of this workshop will be £10, which includes a light lunch of soup, bread and cheese, and tea or coffee (although participants may bring their own lunch if they prefer).
You will find the booking form in the Autumn Newsletter
