Event open to the public.

With a talk ‘The Garden in Winter’ by Troy Scott-Smith at 12 noon.

We are pleased to report that Lady Fitzwalter has generously agreed to us joining with her again to stage another Snowdrop and Hellebore Extravaganza at Goodnestone in February. For those of you who have visited in previous years, expect to see another wonderful display of snowdrop and hellebore drifts in the garden as well as a good selection of nurseries with plenty of snowdrops and other early flowering plants, to sweep away the winter blues.

Once again this year the event is on the last Sunday of February so we are combining it with our usual February meeting and have a very special speaker lined up for the occasion. Troy Scott-Smith, is Head Gardener at Sissinghurst, and his subject, rather aptly, will be ‘The Garden in Winter’.
Troy was appointed head gardener at Sissinghurst last year straight from his previous tenure as head gardener at Bodnant. His appointment sees him as the first male incumbent at Sissinghurst, following in the footsteps of a strong line of women going back to the garden’s creator, Vita Sackville-West.
Seating is limited and available by ticket only, at no extra charge, from the HPS plant sales table on the day.

Plant Fair
There is a plant fair as part of the Snowdrop and Hellebore Extravaganza. Specialist nurseries will be selling unusual varieties of both snowdrops and hellebores as well as many other spring bulbs, shrubs and perennials.
Full details of the Plant Fair here.

There will be a display table of winter shrubs and early flowering bulbs and plants, so if you have something in your garden that looks interesting or colourful and that you think will help to brighten the day, please bring it along to share with members and visitors. Vases will be available.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
