With a talk by Val Bourne at 12.00noon
After the huge success of this event in 2009 we are looking forward to an even bigger and better Extravaganza in 2010. Despite the harsh winter we experienced then, or, perhaps, because of it, the snowdrops were at their very best but the hellebores were reluctant to show their beautiful faces in all but a few cases. What might 2010 bring?
We are hoping to have a wonderful display of winter shrubs and early-flowering bulbs and plants to show that, whatever the weather, we can have interest and colour in our gardens even in the depths of winter. So, if you have any of these please bring them to share with fellow members and visitors (note that members bringing display material before 10.30am will be admitted free).

‘Snowdrops’ by Val Bourne
Val Bourne will give a talk on snowdrops at 12.00 noon. She is a fully paid up member of Plantaholics Anonymous and, unfortunately for her bank manager, a cure has proved elusive. But one plant drives her more than any other – the snowdrop. So February is an exciting month. In her talk Val will describe how the mania struck and outline some of her favourite snowdrops and the stories about the people and places behind them in her usual anecdotal but informative way.
Seating is limited and available by ticket only (from HPS sales table) so please arrive early to ensure a seat.
