The present layout of the grounds dates from the 1790s, though the planting has been altered over the past two centuries. The gardens consist of a walled garden, pinetum, wooded areas, formal lawns and a large kitchen garden. The large walled kitchen garden was restored in 2001 to a design by Lady Arabella Lennox-Boyd. It features a charming mix of lawn, fruit trees and shrubs, as well as a wide variety of vegetables and flowers. The pinetum contains a variety of trees and is also the site of a charming Victorian shell grotto which contains fine examples of fossilised ammonites.

The house is also open to the public for guided tours, for an additional charge. The elegant 18th century house commands stunning views over the surrounding countryside and is steeped in history, with one of the finest clock collections in Britain.
