Event open to the public

We are returning to Eagleswood for our last outdoor event of the year. Once again it will be a combined event – Plant Fair, Garden Open and Flower Show. Mike and Edith Darvill’s garden will no doubt be looking lovely and make a great backdrop for our specialist nursery stalls. Last year, this event took place in the spring, and we were lucky to have some fine weather. We will have to keep our fingers crossed that the sun will be shining on us again….
Plant Fair
We have invited a number of specialist nurseries to attend with a great range of beautiful and unusual plants for sale. There will also be an HPS Plant Stall stocked with plants grown by members. September is a time for stocking up on plants with good autumn colour and the ideal time for planting, so come along and see if that ‘must have’ plant is there waiting for you.
2009-08-01 @12-45-22 1187-186Garden Open
Mike Darvill will be conducting tours around his lovely garden from 11.30am and throughout the afternoon, when visitors  will have the opportunity to quiz him on the structure and development of the garden and ask about the plants he and Edith like to grow. Last year, we had the opportunity to see the garden in spring, and now we can see what it looks like at the end of summer. There is always a wealth of plants of interest to be seen so please take advantage of the afternoon to have a look round.
2013-07-11@12-45-41 0878-186Flower Show
Following the success of last year’s ‘Mini Show’, members will be glad to hear that we will be repeating the same format again this year. Visitors will be able to see plants in classes for perennials, grown for both flowers and foliage, grasses, climbing plants and crocosmias, the Special Genus this year – all grown and exhibited by our members. It is sure to be a delight with some old favourites alongside more unusual specimens and a bit of friendly rivalry adding a touch of excitement to the event.
The full schedule for members was in the Summer Newsletter.

There’s free parking at Eagleswood and we’ll be serving tea with homemade cakes so come and make a day of it!
