‘Early Spring-flowering Perennials’ by Rosy Hardy
We are looking forward to welcoming Rosy Hardy to talk to us again, this time about perennials that will be blooming or are about to bloom at the time of our meeting. She founded Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants in 1988 and it now stocks over 1,200 plant varieties, including many rare and exciting species, some bred and introduced by them. They are now recognized as one of the UK’s leading independent nurseries for herbaceous perennials.
Many of us know her best for her award-winning stands at the Chelsea Flower Show – 21 Gold Medals, to date – where she shows an incredible range of perennial plants.
We’re just hoping that some of her knowledge and expertise rubs off on us!
We’ll keep you supplied with refreshments throughout the day. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served during the morning, followed by a variety of homemade soup and rolls at lunchtime. And, of course, we have tea and homemade cake after the talk, to finish what we hope will be a very successful day.
Members contribute to a friendly photographic competition. There are classes for every aspect of plant photography – detailed close-up, single plants or several in attractive association, garden views or an amusing take on life in the garden.
It’s a fun way to share your plant pictures so do please bring some photos and join in.
Last year we had an amazing display of plants from members’ gardens. It would be wonderful if we could repeat it again this year – some plants will be the same but there are bound to be others that, because of variation in weather conditions, will be at their peak at the time of our meeting.
So please look round your garden and see if there is something you could bring to share with your fellow members and our visitors.
come and join us on sunday 25 march
make a day of it!
