Garden Tea Party

Garden Tea Party

Last Saturday, 6 August, we had our Garden Tea Party at Malliet’s garden in Postling. Somebody ordered some glorious weather; Malliet and John worked really hard mowing the lawn and getting the borders just so, and the garden looked wonderful; the committee made sandwiches, baked cakes, sausage rolls and scones and prepared the plant stall and raffle; friends and family carried tables and chairs, arranged them in the garden and put flowers on each one; crockery was borrowed so that everyone could be sure of a cup of tea; signs were put up in the road and bunting round the house. Everything was ready and waiting for the members to arrive.
They came with plants for the plant stall and went home with many more, much to the amusement of visiting Dutch family! They enjoyed wandering round the garden in glorious sunshine looking at the vast collection of lovely plants. They challenged their brains on the treasure hunt with great success. They chatted with fellow members and caught up with all the latest news.

And they ate all the cake!

Here’s a gallery of photos of the whole afternoon.

Thank you for sharing this nice pictures, so I visit Malliet’s garden virtually again. We’ve visited this wonderful garden with the Vlaamse vasteplantenvereniging from Belgium some weeks ago. Also the garden of Marieke and Geraldine and some others were so inspiring. Thank you for having us and guiding us, we’ll never forget.
