Chris Lane has worked in professional horticulture all his life, as a nurseryman and as a lecturer at Hadlow College. He runs the wholesale Witch Hazel Nursery near Sittingbourne, and has one of the three National Collections for these striking plants. He also grows wisteria, flowering cherries and much more and is the author of the RHS guide to witch hazels. Chris is a long-serving member of the International Plant Propagators’ Society and its International President since 1995. He serves on the RHS Woody Plant Trials Committee and has been awarded the Veitch Memorial Award (2012) and the Brickell Award for Excellence in Cultivated Plant Conservation.
