The Flora of the Mediterranean
Dr Peter Brandham
Sunday 26 October
The flora of the Mediterranean is one of the finest and most diverse in the world yet summer visitors tend to be unaware of this because its main flowering season is much earlier. Dr Peter Brandham will take us on a spring botanical tour to six countries, from Majorca to Israel, illustrated with typical landscapes and portraits of the orchids and other fascinating plants that are found there.
Dr Brandham retired as head of the Cytogenetics Section of the Jodrell Laboratory, part of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, in 1997, but pursues his research into plant chromosomes in retirement. His extensive travels have fed his passion for natural history, while his keen interest in all aspects of
photography has enabled him to record his experiences and share them with like-minded people.
