This event is for members only and must be pre-booked.
We are returning to Tunstall once again for our Christmas Party, which has become an important and very enjoyable event in our calendar. We have decided to make a few changes to the entertainments this year and will have just two short talks before lunch. Rachel Castle, who owns Swallowfields Nursery and specializes in auriculas, will give us an insight into these beautiful plants, their history, cultivation and propagation. Bennet Smith, a professonal photogapher, will talk on ‘My office through the viewfinder’.
Sadly, as we didn’t have a tour this year, we will not have the pleasure of one of Ginny’s excellent presentations. Instead, we are asking everyone to bring something from their garden that is looking good, or just interesting, in December. In addition to having an attractive display, we hope to have an informal discussion about the exhibits.
To stave off hunger pangs while waiting for lunch, there will be a quiz to stimulate the brain cells, this year compiled by Roy Baker.
After lunch, Ginny Oakes and Vera Orsbourne will entertain us with ‘An Alphabet of Plants’. Vera is well known for having an eye for a good plant and has grown many unusual ones over the years. She and Ginny also have some beautiful photographs and together they will bring you their choice with names right through the alphabet. Will their choices tally with yours? Maybe yes, maybe no. Hopefully, it will lead to a certain amount of controversy!
Following all this excitement, a much-needed cup of tea and a mince pie will be served to round off the day.
A booking form is in the Autumn newsletter.
