Fergus Garrett will require little or no introduction to HPS members. As Head Gardener at Great Dixter in East Sussex, he worked for 15 years with iconoclastic master plantsman and gardener Christopher Lloyd until ‘Christo’s’ death in 2006, first merely carrying out instructions, but later as a full partner in the adventurousness and experimentation that came to characterise Great Dixter. Last chance to visit Glen Chantry

2009 will be the last year that the gardens and nursery at Glen Chantry, in Essex, will be open to the public. Wol and Sue  Staines have decided to retire after 25 years of opening to the gardening public.

The garden and nursery will be open in 2009 from 15th May to 15th August, inclusive, on Fridays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. So, if you want to return to this lovely garden or visit for the first time this is your last chance - put the dates in your diary.
